CLEGHORN
The
Cleghorn branch of First Cooperative Association merged with
Cherokee in 1949. Then in 1989, Cleghorn and Cherokee merged
with Marcus and Larrabee to form First Farmers Cooperative.
First Farmers Cooperative purchased Fredrickson Grain at Meriden
in 1990.
The main cement house was built in 1967, the annex was built
in 1974, and the west silos were built in 1980. Storage capacity
is 780,000 bushels, plus 180,000 bushels for the west bunker
and 200,000 bushels for the east bunker. Total grain capacity
is 1,160,000 bushels.
The old fertilizer plant was built in 1978. The 28% storage
tanks were purchased in 1990. The new addition was built in
1995. The storage capacity for 28% is 300 ton, dry fertilizer
is 5,000 ton and NH3 is 145 ton. We run 3 dry floaters, 1 liquid
floaters, and 2 post sprayers out of this facility.
Services offered are fertilizer application of dry, liquid and
NH3, spraying application, lime application, bulk chemicals
and packaged chemicals. We offer soil sampling, GPS technology,

and storage.
Cleghorn is a truck location for grain. The majority of our
soybeans are trucked to AGP and Aurelia; our corn is trucked
to Aurelia and Marcus. We dispatch 4-grain semis out of Cleghorn.
The agronomy facilities at Cleghorn take care of the agronomy
needs for Marcus, Meriden, Larrabee and Cherokee.
There are 12 full time employees at Cleghorn.
